As I grew older, I began to realize that being deaf wasn't just a physical characteristic, but an integral part of who I am. It's not about what I can't do, but about the unique experiences and perspectives that come with being deaf. I started to explore my Deaf culture, attending workshops and events, and connecting with other members of the community.
Of course, this journey wasn't without its challenges. I faced skepticism and misunderstandings from those who didn't understand my experiences or perspectives. But with each obstacle, I grew stronger and more confident in my abilities. I learned to advocate for myself and others, and to celebrate our differences.
As I delved deeper into my Deaf identity, I discovered that I didn't need to conform to societal norms or expectations. Instead, I could use my voice in new and innovative ways – through art, music, and storytelling. This realization gave me a sense of liberation and purpose.
